NATES LOG Chapter 3

today was a busy day started the day off and broke out the pressure washer and washed the R from getting it stuck and the toro i have to work on and the ranch king it looks pretty good now also powerwashed off the drivethen went over to my godfaters house and moved a couch from his basement to the back porch anlong with a chair then moved a couch from his living room down to the basement then moved the new one from his van to the living room then loaded the chair and couch from the porch into the van and took them to my house and moved them into my living room as temp storage till my brother comes and looks at them if he dont want them then idk but they are some nice vintage pieces lol late 60's eary 70's then came home and the neighbor lady who aint bad lookin was raking out our tree line between the proporties so i told her that she knows i will get to that here shortly she said yeah i know and continued i told here well just leave it all in a line and ill come pick it up and dispose of it took about 20 min to do i have to get a pic of my leaf ect mover some day lol u guys will love it but then came back down to the shop and moms car didnt want to start something funky with the fuel pump i belive well klicked it on and off a couple of times and wala works again so waiting for something to die comepletly but i have my suspicions then changed the oil in the truck and car and also moved the logsplitter up to our empty drive next to the trailer then i started looking into the ranch kink well the starter was jamed and needed a new gear on it so i swiched out starters had to free up the float in the carb and swap batteries for one we took out of another mower and got it to fire and run smokes a little and has a minor knock to it and stalls when i try to enguage the deck but it runs and moves now and thats a good deal i have to replace a wheel bearing on the front and some other minor stuff all in all it just might work idk what to do with the engine yet but i have a feeling i will swap it out for another that i have and rebuild it before it blows lol oh yeah i cleanded up the shop too stored some more stuff again and called it quits for the nite wow thats alot of typin but onto the pics and also there are two vids at the end of the ranch king

ok guys first off is a JD crawler i so want it lol too much and too big for me lol but cool




ok the rest is the stuff i bought today spent 280 dollars on 3 riders and 4 self propelled mowers and some bridge plank that is 12" wide 3 inches thick and 10 feet long got them all for four dollars

onto the riders the self propelled arent really important two run as of right now other two need a little work and the first rider is a sears craftsman 16 big old hoss i think the engine is free and has compression other than that idk then is my ranch king i got the other day cleaned up good didnt it then is the ranch king today the motor is a 15 briggs ohv the motor i think has a bad rod we will see though and last is a white with aws someone started a motor swap has a oppeseed brigg in it that looks almost new paid 60 dollars a piece for the riders

yes the white is all wheel steer well i did a little today not much lol but moms car the fuel pump went bad so i had to tow it home today its in the drive waiting on parts now and i sold the one black selfpropelled mower to my godfather for what we paid for it no big deal its a good mower all i had to do was clean it change the oil and sharpen the blade and off it went started working on the gold craftmen selfpropelled with bagger and found it has a bad flywheel key so tomorrow i got to see if i can find one here in town its the funky off set deal lol darn tecs and thats it for the day like i said not much no pics it rained for the better part of the day but the grass started turning green lol

ahh sorry guys two days in a row no pics i did get the red mower done had to replace wheel bearings and overide the deck safty switch for it but oh well lol and it will need a drive belt soon lol but yeah its up and going and i sharpened the blades on it today if u look at my other post u will see it lol also i looked for my tecuseh flywheel key that i need found 10 of them on ebay for 8 bucks they are on their way this way i have extras lol and then i put a new fuel pump in my moms 2002 caviler oh yeah did i mention it had a full tank of gas in it lol but in theory i did post one pic in my other post so i didnt let yall down completely

If it is any consolation, a friend at work had the fuel pump on his cavalier go out and guess what, full tank of gas.
I think I see a trend

Mabey this is why I don't have any intention of owning a chevy, unless it's a classic.

ahh well its been a few days lol not much going on its been cold like i said replace the fuel pump and got some mowers running LOL

and as for the work today well the belt for that toro come in it was the correct one ended up making 30 bucks for labor and pickup i built a block off plate for the deck for the guy told him to only use it to mulch up leaves and that he should invest in a set of gator blades then and i sharpend the blades while the deck was off also somone did a hack job on them before and stuck a curved blade in a machin and only did the flat spots lol man and i also washed it for him didnt take me all that long and also i showed him the toro part number price and the price of the replacement i found him he was so happy his total bill was 55 dollars so with that i get to go get a AC 917 sat now yeah me and ive been workin on a few of the other push mowers may have lined up a tree job from the same guy too lol he has a small crab apple tree he wants down told him 50 bucks cut even at the ground and hauled away he was happy to hear that too man i love companies that charge alot and make me look good lol and thats about it so far not a whole lot going on oh it did snow today though didnt stick but it still snowed lol and now the pics oh and also this sears suburban 12 has carb issues whats it worth ?? it has a snow blade and deck for it also

nate nice subrban they go for a couple hundred around here. They are pretty tough tractors I've had a few over the years and don't have any complaints with them.

well guys not much to report today sorry no pics i failed got busy lol well the fourth self propelled mower from the sale the drive was shot in it but the engine runs so i will keep the engine and blade until i find a suitable doner deck for it lol and i broght home the AC today sorry i was wrong on the model number its a 718 manual lift belt drive to the rear nothin too special still capeable of ground enguageing equipment also i swapped out the 12 hp and the 11 hp tha i have in that ranch king so only one price on it now 225 a guy is suposed to come tomorrwo to look at the one selfpropelled mower that i have done still waiting on the flywheel key for the other one then we will see what conditon it is in hope fully good to go on it and im starting work on the other ranch king tomorrow and oh yeah decided to keep my 1/18 scale cars and not go after the sears suburban i can invest in others that i can flip easy ie newer mowers

well i think todays pics will make up for the last few days lol well i did get pics of the 718 its kinda rough but complete so but more pressing matters i finally sold my TH 350 trans for 200 bucks and that self propelled bagging murrey for 35 so good day today almost got rid of the ranch king today too but that fell through the guys stomach wouldnt clear the steering wheel lol but any whos started workin on the riders today mainly the engines pulled that 16 hp off of the white it runs now had to do a starter repair took an 8hp shell and stuck the endcaps from the 16hp starter on it worked out great cuse the original had a broken magnet but the choke isnt open all the way so what is it a dirty carb i supose but it runs sounds like its got a litte chatter when it idles but goes away with rpm idk seems to be good so i think i will put it on the green ranch king cuse the 14.5 ohv on it is scrap basicly looks like the rod grenaded at high RPMS its nasty took out the back of the block and the crank many many pieces so jake if u still need a 15 hp ohv head i got one available 50 bucks for it with the valves in it and then we picked up the shop and stored some stuff today all in all a decent day today got to get some more mowers going so i can sell them then i got to find some more to redo and opened that 12 hp from the red ranch kink and it looks pretty good its an ic engine so 10 overbore rebuild kit and away i go lol have to sell the red ranch king and take the funds from that and invest into the 12 hp and find another beater to run all in all im even for the week so far i think probably ahead idk i just do the work and collect the money dad pays out and gets money from me its a good system i think lol anywhos onto the best part destruction pics lol oh yeah also made a flywheel puller for these newer engines today

now what was i gonna do oh yeah tell yalll what i did today well started off at noon and powerwashed the riders i got to work on man was there alot of crud on the drive after that had to wash the drive too afterwards but i cheated and hooked up the power washer to the hot water in the bathroom and i also put the chain fall on the basket ball hoop and lifted the front of the mowers up so they are very clean now compared to what they used to be lol yeah me then i pulled the sears craftsman up to the shed and started to work on it thanks to a little help from the r for power yall will see and the starter didnt spin at all so i pulled a cover off to find the starter gear enguaged into the flywheel got it disenguaged and tried again same results so pulled the plugs fixed the starte again and same result well decided something in the belt was stuck so took off the drive pulley for the trans sprayed some fuel in the cylenders and put the plugs back in and hooked up my temporary gas tank and guess what she fires up there is a vid of this dont even have to clean the carb what kind of luck is that sounds like its in decent shape dont mind the sound on the vid it amplifies engine sound for some strange reason so then onto the belt issue well both the belt from the engine to the variator and the belt from the rear to the variator were in the same pulley groove so i pop the one out and give the trans a shot get it moving just long enough to find out second is shot in the trans and all others work its a 3 sp manual before the belt jumps again so we get to lookin at it and see that one pulley has been replaced and a make shift spring was installed well the pulley was a tnsioner not a v groove and the spring was rigged so we figure this is the problem so replace the spring and the tensioner pulley and try again thats where the moving video come in and it worked great take it back park it and dad gets on it to put it in its spot since we dont have another trans and poof does it again i have a problem here im thinking the rear belt is too long or something of the sorts or the variator is missing a belt retainer idk i need to look at some drawings then i also replace the one front wheel bearing there is a pic of whats left on it did this prior to the test drive also the deck works on its ok lol oh yeah the gas in the tank was good on it so we hooked up the factory tank too so we clean up the mess touch up the last on the barn quilt which i have a pic of today and move the allis to the sidwalk for work tomorrow we shall see what it brings lol but i also got a pic of my trusty power washer it was free to me yeah me and that was it for the day the vids will be at the bottom as always any suggestions on my variator proble will be helpfull thanks nate

today was not a great day at werneburg INC lol tought i would have a vid of the allis drivin around to day but guess not cuse guess what some serious proplems with that engine but let me tell the story started today off with a bang got the mail and my tec flywheel keys were here so i put that craftsman self propelled bagger back together serviced it and fired it up works like a charm listed on craigs for 60 bucks a fair price i think and then i started work on the allis first thing first check oil good has oil ok hook up the jumper cables to the starter starter no spinn take the starter off starter is ok clean the gear up reinstall pull plug engine still no spin ok disconnect drive shaft engine still no spin on starte ok pull the valve cover adjust valves and check compression relese everything ok had to ajust vavles ok now try still no spin ok problem with engine maybe rod cap on backwards or overtight so pull engine out and apart well i was correct rod cap is on backwards but bad news is its shot now wiped it cranks ok though ok pull the motor all the way apart well rod has been cleareced head has dings in it lots of bolts missing and ect ect but it was a new piston and rod just not done correctly guy didnt even hone or bore the cylender out and its tore up but boreable i think i hope so so thats the story of the k 361 not a good one and the guy said he got it and was told all it needed was the valves ajusted so wrong way far off so time to spend some $$$$$ on some kohler parts and now the pics

That s#@$s nate but they are an easy rebuild what does the piston say on the top is it a standard or oversized. Also those are the balance gears in the pic.

says std but will take a .030 to get all of it out im guessin and also i supose they are on the first pic thats a close up and the second pic is the ones on the right they have bearings that just ride on the crank helsp distrubute torke and gear climing but the bearings have play so i might leave them out if they are not vital

sorry no pics today picked up a self propelled yard machine with bagger today needs new drive wheels maybe i can find one with a bad engine and use it as a parts mower wahhh but i did get that carb cleaned on the 16 hp briggs today hope fully that fixes it and i swapped the 16 for the 15 on the logspliter so i can put the 15 on this green mtd but other than that not much today cuse its only 30 degrees out lol

but as for today i got the engine in that ranch king green mower its a 15/42 and put it on craigs list for 400 ill put the link up so yall can see but it seems to be a good mower didnt exactly look that great washed so i waxed it and amoralled the seat lol yeah me shiney now lol and i put the barn quilt on the barn and thats it for the day lol had a few calls on stuff nothing real serious for right now but we shall see

didnt do much today lol but i did play with the GTV 16 a bit built a suedo belt guard for it worked ok for a bit lol at least it not jumping over anymore lol ABC says hes got the parts i need but it will need a new belt lol now instead of jumping the belt will grab ahold on the dameged portions and wrap up on its self lol but it did drive up and down the street first lol
