Messed with the screws, but still surged.......Took it apart and cleaned, blew it all out....still did it.
There is a little screw that goes into the housing on top...It doesn't have a needle on the end, but has a little hole in the bottom. I turned it out 1/4 turn and that cured it. Only thing is, the screw, not being bottomed out is loose now and turns real easy. I put a drop of Locktite on the threads and put it back in..........This isn't the hi speed screw you were talking about, was it? The low idle speed screw is on top poncho under the air cleaner, the high speed screw is underneath on the float bowl. You need to idle it down and adjust the low speed screw on top.this should stop the surge, idle it up to where it running pretty fast then adjust the fast idel on the float bowl this should get it smoothed out, turning the screw out far enough to where it is loose usually means a carb kit the parts are getting wore down. It's really important poncho that it's idling way down for the top screw and way up for the bottom fast idle screw this should get you dialed in : )

| Damn engine seized up on me today....Had it running a couple of times getting the deck belt right. All of a sudden, it wouldn't turn over, engine would stop in one spot. Took the head off and there's a big score in the wall and the edge of piston has aluminum jammed on the edge.......Pulled it apart, rings are all broke and seized in. Never had that happen before....maybe sat too long and corrosion got it????
Looks like I will just strip it for parts now...only $40 invested, not the end of the world.

| I know what you mean...I have never blown one of them before.....It had fresh oil in it, but the piston and rings are wasted.........the little oil splasher dealie`was on there and looked like it was working....but it looks like there was no oil getting to the piston. Was running good.....shut it off and next time it wouldn't turn over....Just like that.......Hate when I can't figure why something happens | |
