Hey guys, got a newbie in Broome Co, NY. I am currently infected with the Cubcadetitus virus which I am told is incurable. I have found a Springfield 36 that I am thinking about picking up. It looks to be in decent condition although it is lacking the engine but has a snowblower and mower deck. What engine should be in it ? If I get it would anyone here be interested in the snowblower ? I'd sell it to recoup some of the cost to invest into a restore.

Thanks guys
Brendan

Hey Brendan, I am the Springfield curator, or to cut out the BS, the Springfield Guy. lol!

Anyway, I say buy it, the two engine options were a 6 hp Briggs or Kohler vertical shaft.

I would be somewhat interested in the Snowblower, however, my location may prohibit it.

Keep me posted.

Boy I hope not john, I don't care for those engines. I do know where a briggs and scrapiron v-twin sets though Laughing

JD...I did see a twin cylinder CAT, that would be cool ! Little rich for me though. Have a 1250 and 129 that been stripped for parts, a 1450 we use to mow and snowblower and cab for winter, a hopped up 73, and an Original that is completely custom...it's my FrankenCub.

Hey Casey...too bad shipping would be killer, would only want $50 for it. By looking at the picture, do you think it is the correct snowblower ?

I can't tell Brendan, most snowblowers had their own engine, so i'd say it might not be right. But the tractor is a 1960-1962 model year. I am in the chatbox at bottom of the forum if you want to chat some.

You gotta post some pic's of the Original. I just got one and I'm looking for idea's. I am putting a diesel on it and I think maybe a tricycle front end.

Got a couple more pics for ya, is the deck and front blade correct for this tractor ? The blade doesn't look right though......
They are a little blurry, I resized them larger for a closer view

I used to have a Toro tractor built after the Springfield merger. The mower deck is correct, but the front blade does not look correct for a Springfield.

WOOHOO....looks like I'll be draggin it home this Wed.

Well how bout that, this long after and we can still edit.........

It didn't happen to work out for pickin it up today but I get in touch with the kid that has it and tomorrow as soon as my wife's son gets off the bus we are heading out to get it. Should have it home by 7PM. The pics he sent me were by cell so the quality isn't there, when I get it home I will take plenty of high res pics. Will get some of the deck for ya KC. By the way...you get any literature uploaded yet KC ? Smile
