| Title might be overkill but jeez, I had a great experience because Nate is a genious.  Back in I believe February, Nate sent me a rebuilt carb to go on my Springfield because the old one leaked and had an unadjusting float needle (wouldn't stay put). Anyways, I had mounted the carb months ago, just never tried it out, I needed a battery and finish fuel line installation. I did both of those last night so today was the test day. I rolled the Springfield out onto my tractor house porch and added gasoline so I knew it would actually have a chance of getting running. Well, I was expecting the thing to take several tries to get running, but to my surprise, the adjustments Nate had set were the majic settings!!  That tractor put out puffs of smoke (at exhaust) on the first and second revolutions, by the third I no longer needed the starter. It was so smooth starting that I didn't realize it was running in the first three revolutions. Here is the kicker, throttle setting doesnt affect how fast and smooth it starts, it doesn't even need the choke!! I said it a few times but Nate is a genious. | |
