M-F 8 Hydro.....Rare?

A guy emailed this morning offering me a M-F 8 with a hydrostat trans for $150....says it just needs a throttle cable fixed......No pictures, but he says its OK and cuts, which to me means it has a deck with it. Doing some research on MTF and some were saying that these are quite rare........Any comments on this,

I think they made a gobb and a bunch of those little tractors, but to find an 8 horse Techumseh that old, that hasn't already self destructed like a grenade, really IS rare!! It does sound like a good deal.

I have never seen a MF8 Hydro either only seen 12s as for the tecumseh I have a bunch of old ones the only problem I have ever had with one is carb leaks they all run perfect. never had one grenade the only engines I have had bad luck with are Kohlers but they are the easiest to fix!!!

All teccys have carb problems. Either the carb dont carburate and the thing wont run, or it carburates too good and the thing blows up lol

I have a M-F 10 with the Tecumseh in it.......Never had a problem with how it runs......

I am passing on this M-F 8.......I gave the phone number to a buddy on another forum who is looking for one....I got an email for that M-F 12 that I was looking into the other week.......will try and grab it this week.

Went and picked up this so called MF8 yesterday, which it isn't....It is a later 70s MF85. .....Still OK, but I wanted an older one....I am still going tomorrow ti get that MF12 with the blower.
