Hey guys. I bought a Gravely Sulky from a guy the other day and it's in great shape. It's rusted up and I have taken it apart to clean and paint it. He said he thought it from the 30s. It has brakes also. I was wondering, is the original color orange & is it worth restoring to original or would it deface it if I painted it red? I kinda like these things. I was thinking of starting a collection of 'em. Have a good 'un. Smile

Hey there.

Deciding when and what to paint is a dilemma - it's original only once. After that it depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you have original Gravelys and want matching components, then you may want to paint them with a custom colour to match the faded tractor.

My opinion, choose the colour that reflects you. Maybe grey to match your Ford?

You're already doing a great thing by taking the long road and making it "right". Not letting it go to scrap metal or just hosing down the rust with tremclad.

I'm trying to decide if I should paint my 1960 Bolens Ride-a-matic. So far, not painted reflects my lack of decisiveness. Wink

Thanx Moto. I have decided on the main color to be red. Not sure about the other one. Never even thought about the red/grey thang. The other one is red/white. I have this one apart already and having it blasted and primed. I'll decide after that. Thanx for the suggestion. Smile
