| About a month or so ago I purchased this 1967 Gilson M-7 on ebay for $150 since it was somewhere along the way to go the Evan's place. The only before pics I have of the tractor are with it sitting next to Evan's Case 150, ain't that a nice pair of tractors. Too bad the Motomowers were winterized a few days prior to my visit.... wonder if there was a conspiracy involved. Anyway, after yesterday's tractor show Dad pointed out that the tractor needed a belt guard, ok, he demanded that. So today we built a new belt guard, somewhat like the original, only the best we could. The tractor has been repowered so the original rounded end guard is missing. The new belt guard is built in halves using materials we had laying around already. I know it needs paint but that will come later, possibly when I restore the tractor. After the belt guard I ran across some expanded sheet metal in the shop that hasnt been touched in probably 5 years, so the missing grill issue has been solved. Expanded metal is tough stuff to cut into a trapezoid though. Anyway, here is the results for the day. | |

It does make a nice winter blade for the 1974 Gravely Commercial 12 walk behind we have, however, we tend to leave the brush hog on that until we chop down the garden in the fall.

Man that grill turned out good, looks original to me. Did the deck go to the scrap pile or is it just in storage? They are both good lookin machines, cept the Abe is missing on the one of them, and the pic makes it so obvious... someone needs to get that fixed. Conspiracy or not it is an awful coincidental setup. I have never had the opportunity to drive either Motomower around your house. Only got to drive the one since the other one died the first time I was up... Dad said that the grill looked great when he saw the tractor go by later on. I have to agree it looks real close to the original type, which ain't bad. Especially since it was a pain in the arse to cut with all means of implements. Required some sawsall, some bolt cutters, files, and a hammer/vise to fix all the inquired damage... jeez... Good thing I don't have to make any more of those. Evan, think about that for a second... do you kow me to scrap anything?? Only if it is total junk is it scrapped.... I rather have the deck stashed away for in case I feel like repairing it some day... which might be 10-15 years from now, or never, who knows. I swear, I got broken, worthless parts sitting on shelves waiting to meet the next century.

Larry, Here's a couple pics of mine. The tank is on the back of the engine, and is about level with the carb I guess. I never tried bypassing it to see if it would gravity feed. The fuel pump is bad on the 8 hp Kohler, and it seems to be harder to find parts for the 8 hp as opposed to the 10 and 12 hp units. My Case doesn't have a fuel pump, and from the looks of it it never did, but the gas doesn't have very far to travel to get to the carb.
