PostSubject: Home made brush mower   Sun 27 Sep 2009, 6:12 pm

I decided I needed a tow behind mower that I can cut tall grass with....so I cobbled this together this week....It's an old 42" Ford deck that I have laying around, took the front off a frame of an old MTD and a 10hp B&S. Took the roller off the deck and put some bigger wheels on to lift it up. It will cut about 6" off the ground or can be lowered to 4"........Here's a few pics

Nice equipment there. Is the mower deck that you made a brush mower the one out from under the Ford towing it?

Same as the one from it.....From my parts tractor...was rusted out in a couple of spots, which I patched.

That's a nice little trailing mower...it turned out real well. Have you got a chance to use it yet?
BTW, I too like your '51 Ford and '62 Pontiac. Very Happy

Yeah...works pretty well....Real tall stuff tends to get pushed down either by the tractor tires or the front of the mower.....going over it twice in a different direction helps......I may shave a bit off the front of the mower deck

Nice job on the pull behind. Beats the heck outta paying a $1000+ for a swisher.
What engine is in the ole FORD beater? That would realy be cool with some stack's and a CUMMINS under the
hood...
