Found a bolens tractor on cl today the ad said bolens tractor 1972 with 18 hp front axle off and hasn't run in a few years bo. so I called the guy asked how much. he tells me he just bought a new bobcat tractor with loader and backhoe and wants the bolens gone then says he needs a day or two to get the axle out of the basement and get the tractor out of the shed. I say great how much are you looking for so he asks do you have a big trailer I tell him yes a car trailer I ask why do you need help picking up the new one he laughs and says no its being delivered. but he says the bolens weighs about 15-1700 lbs I say no problem. again how much he says will you spend 25. on it? I didn't have to think to long and said sold so now I can't wait till he calls back with it ready.....

Well picked up the bolens tonight says ht23 on the hood but the guy thinks its a ht18 will find out soon it was dark when I just got home . It is a big heavy beast for sure it needs a front axle assembly if anyone knows where theres one please let me know I am told they are the same on the large frame tractors will get pics tomorrow if it stops raining for a minute or 2

Well guys threw it together quick today and it started right up all hydraulics work engine purrs no smoke or bad noises. As you can see I needed to mickey mouse the gas tank.

I put a battery and gas and threw the front axle on temp and drove it runs great

It is all busted up where the spindle goes through it the spindle wobbles around

is that why one wheel looks tilted

Wow Larry...that is one awesome machine with an awesome price to match. I've never heard anything bad about those Bolens large frames, they are supposed to be some real work horses. So what is your plan with this machine...fix it up and use it or sell it?

I will get it all fixed up then make up my mind I found and ordered the front axle today so that will be one problem out of the way. I will get some bearings for the front and some new tie rod enda and see how she does..

Ive got a few I do like the tractor so far so we will see just ordered head gaskets carb kit points plugs and joe hemmi said he will ship the axle tomorrow
