PostSubject: Lights, Camera, Case   Sat 06 Jun 2009, 5:52 pm

As most of you know, my Case 222 had a pair of "headlights." I admit, they were on the head of the tractor, and they could have provided light at one point. lol!

Last time I looked at these headlights I noticed they were a little white in the middle of the lens and unplugged... scratch
Well, it cost me a new fuse but I figured out why they were unplugged. lol!

My Case was built in 1978 therefore it came with plastic headlights, which at this point have bad (melted) lenses, bad wires, and good bulbs in them... scratch

Two weeks ago I found a brand new pair of glass headlights for it on ebay, and for the sum of 46 dollars and a total of 51 something they arrived yesterday. Upon inspection they looked flawless, although the rubber "gaskets" had something to be desired. They were somewhat mis shapened and cracked up, but I did have the ones in the old headlights ya know.

So today I switched out the headlights on the 222 starting with removing the old headlights and looking them over. Of the four rubber gaskets two were good, one was broken, and one was homemade. One of the new headlights recieved 2 rather nice gaskets and the other recieved 2 out of the cracked up 4 that I liked, but that was fine, they do work the same, for now.

Upon inspection of my new wires, mine had a fork on one end for a switch, which I recieved. My Case has the key light control and a "bullet" connector in the light wiring. Luckily, Dad (an electrician) had a crimp on bullet connector on hand. So after shortening up the wire, crimping on the connector, and plugging in the lights, I tried them out.

I am happy to report that I still have the same fuse as I did when I started the project, and I have two working headlights. Very Happy

Now to go take pics of the old headlights on the floor and the new headlights in the Case. I can't wait til the sun goes down to see how bright those the new lights are. Very Happy

Here are some pictures of the old lights, wiring, and lenses. Notice how ugly the wiring is, and the melting on the insides of the old plastic lenses.

Good deal buzz! Those certainly look way better than the old ones. I can't believe how melted those plastic lenses were!
