| In my local trade paper (bulletin board) I saw an add for three old engines: Maytag, Briggs Y, and Clinton, price $275. One call later, a short visit, and $250 later all three engines were mine. The Maytag: model 92, short base, good compression, complete with Maytag spark plug, one broken bolt flange, not sure on spark, not running The Briggs Y: mostly complete minus gas tank, stuck, hard to say if it will run again, will try to unstick it at some point The Clinton: 50s model, about 1.5 hp probably, complete minus air cleaner and gas cap, good compression, not sure on spark, gas tank rusty inside, also not running If all i get running is the Maytag and the Clinton it's still a good deal, but I'm sure with some work the Briggs Y can be freed up and made to run again. | |

| Ken, that looks like it alright, I will have to check the tag, but that looks like it. I remember your issue with gas caps though... looks like we need 2 now... funny isn't it... | |

| I think my Clinton is smaller in hp, it has a half inch output shaf, definitely slightly smaller looking. I will probably mak it run by and stick just a paper air filter element on it for now, just have a sorta custom rat rod look to it for now. Ya Ken, it is real weird. I am kinda wondering if a cap could be made out of a plastic pipe cap and a strip of rubber glued inside the edge. Just drill a hole in top to vent and then just wedge it on and off... I mean It has to be better than a rag... | |
