Heres the pic:

And here are the plans i took a few minutes to draw up. I still need to figure out reverse, but so far things seem good.
Try and figure it out, but if my drawing is to crappy ill explain it lol!

Thats a Struck crawler...pretty neat & expensive too.
I think some kind of hydrostatic trans would be the easiest way with a breaking system to stop one side or the other.
I think the Strucks used reverser discs....I know Lennox crawlers did.

Alright first off id like to thank walterg for his helpful email. Secondly I revised my plans some. Now im gonna build it off a murray. Ill use a 4 or 5 horse push mower engine for power and a peerless transaxle out of a murray with a couple pulleys on the axle shafts. This way i can use the different gears in the tranny to control my speed and have reverse. The 2 levers are belt tensioners which will work as my clutches. Im not sure what im going to do for tracks right now, but ill cross that bridge when i get to it.

Well i completed the teardown today. Gotta try to find some pulleys and sprockets tomorrow to use for my brake and drive systems. The general consensus so far has been that 4 Hp is not enough, so i managed to score a free 10 horse and all ill i have to do is pay shipping. Ive been provided with a couple different ideas for tracks, so i at least have some idea of what im going to do for that. Got pics soon as i pick up a USB cable.
