Hi, everyone. I'm very excited to be a part of this forum. I stumbled across this site while researching, and without much luck, for information about Springfield garden tractors. I recently found a Springfield 30 with a 10 h.p. Kohler, mower deck, snow blade and wheel weights for $200. It also comes with a box of spare/miscellaneous parts, and supposedly runs, but needs some carb work-no big deal, I hope. I'd love if someone could tell me if, one: is this tractor worth buying? and, two: are these quality tractors? I want to buy it, well, mostly for fun so I have something to tinker with and fix up, but also for snow removal purposes. Like I said, I've found hardly anything about these tractors, so anything would be helpful. I'd especially like to find a repair manual or diagram. Thanks!

Ryan

below is a link to the add with the tractor I am referencing and hopefully purchasing. Thanks again!

Followed the link. That's an interesting looking tractor and looks like it's ready for work.

The price seems good. The plow and weights are worth almost the asking price if you were buying them separately.
Doubt you would find anything as interesting for less than that.

I don't know anything about Springfield personally, but they are definitely durable workhorses and a piece of rolling art.

As long as the transmission is in good shape, I wouldn't worry about a manual for that tractor. The motor is common amongst many other tractors.

I am an expert and I have paid up to $400 for a good running Springfield in similar condition. Let me just say this, $200 is a good price and if you buy it I will help you on anything you need, I only have 10 Springfields myself (counting all my variations).

Thanks a lot, guys. I'm going to pick the tractor up on Monday (if my wife still says ok). Casey, I appreciate your offer and will probably be sending a question of two your way eventually. Thanks again!

Unless the person is holding it for you - I wouldn't wait that long.
Around here that would already be gone.

That's excellent news.

Now you need to know the truth - it's your first tractor.
