Hi- I just joined, and posted in the introduction forum with the same question, but I really need some help. Can anyone give me information about Springfield tractors? I'm about to purchase one that is a model "30" (I think... ) and had a 10 h.p. Kohler. It also comes with a mower deck, snow blade, wheal weights, and a box of spare/miscellaneous parts. It runs, but needs work. The goal is to fix it up, have something to tinker on, and maybe move a little snow in the winter. The guys selling it is asking $200. The problem is: I can't find any information about this tractor. I've been told that it's a mid-late 70's, but the only other Springfields I've found have been from the 50's-60's. Also, are these things quality, or am I just getting myself into a money pit. I don't mind having to work on the thing, but I want something that's not poor quality. I'd also love a repair manual or diagram, if possible. Really, any information would be great. Thanks!

I say buy it, it's a good price, I have paid up to $400 for similar condition Springfields, and I have 10 currently. If you buy it I will help you on whatever you need help with. Manuals are about 10-20 bucks on ebay, reprints or originals (easy to get them).
