Subject: cherry red exaust pipe Sat 18 Sep 2010, 9:58 pm
not sure how to fix this. my 8hp briggs is turning the exaust cherry red. anybody got any ideas? its on my 1963 motomower. not sure wat to do to stop it. would it be gap between the coil and flywheel? if so wat should i set it at?

I would say the carb is set a little to lean. Back out the main needle a little bit and see waht happens. If this doesnt help you might need to clean out the carb. I had a 8 hp Briggs on a Panzer that did the same thing. I backed out the main and that cured it and it ran better too.

I was told if it was doin this the valve good be a little lose. The Yeo did it. If your run em awhile the valve will tighten up. It this right? lol
