was wondering if any one could tell me how to tell a mm from a ford or any other garden tractor made by jacobson other than the paint of course

look for a serial tag it should say i would be my guess. Welcome to the forum

First off, welcome to the group. I would say the s/n would tell you more than enything. My Homelite is built by Simplicity, but no mention of that on the serial tag.
