Ford LS25 Belt Replacement Empty
PostSubject: Ford LS25 Belt Replacement   Ford LS25 Belt Replacement Icon_minitimeTue 23 Mar 2010, 6:43 pm

My 90 year old neighbor asked me to replace the main drive belt on her Ford (New Holland) LS25....mid 90s, I figure........It has the Kohler 12.5 vertical shaft engine. The belt runs from front to back to a big pulley on top of the trans axle (gear drive).........When I got a good look under there, it looks like 1/2 this damn machine needs to come apart to get this belt out....it goes on each side of the steering gears, with no way of coming out easily that I can see.........Anyone ever change one of these, maybe links to a manual?.....I don't want to disappoint the old girl.......she still mows her own yard with this thing.

I bet a segmented belt would work in there, it'd sure be easier to mount.

Does that mean that it comes apart?.....cus, thats about the only way to remove it without taking the whole thing apart

Yes, they come apart and are adjustable to any length. It sure makes mounting easier, you can cut the old belt off and install this belt without taking anything apart. I've never used one but have seen one installed on the drive of a garden tractor, so they must work. I suppose your local auto parts store could get you one, but if not, here is a link to someone that can. GOOD LUCK!
