Maybe I paid too much???

This Roper found it's way into my trailer this morning and my wallet got $100 lighter. .....No compression....I was hoping for a stuck valve or something, but no such luck. I took the head off and the piston, she no move. So at the very least the rod is broken. It's a 12 hp B&S. I wonder if the rod out of an 8 hp is the same?....Probably not, eh?

The thing does have a new battery and looks pretty good otherwise.

Parts Springfield revival

This past weekend on my way back from Evan's I met up with a guy that was selling some Springfield components to me cheap, I mean dirt cheap. He had a 4 speed transaxle, a front axle, a steering wheel, a dash tower, and a drive shaft for a Toro like the one Evan sold me earlier this year. So for $40 I bought all of those parts to revive my 1961 Springfield that I parted out due to being worn out. So far the story is good, cause all I am missing is a couple odds and ends, and the engine. However, ...

The Caterpillar turns jockey tractor

In the past I have used the good old Caterpillar to move my heavily built homemade 6x10 trailer. Attempt one, easily spotted as a pass/fail method is still in place, along with the brand new, bolted together using leftover thick steel hitch LOL. The new hitch was fabbed last week and the top piece was added yesterday after the trial pull, which unlike the cheap aluminum bolt together angle iron, did not result in the trailer rolling away.

How about pics.

About a month or so ago I purchased this 1967 Gilson M-7 on ebay for $150 since it was somewhere along the way to go the Evan's place. The only before pics I have of the tractor are with it sitting next to Evan's Case 150, ain't that a nice pair of tractors. Too bad the Motomowers were winterized a few days prior to my visit.... wonder if there was a conspiracy involved.

Anyway, after yesterday's tractor show Dad pointed out that the tractor needed a belt guard, ok, he demanded ...

Well I got the old 4 horse briggs out today. I mounted up a fuel tank, and washed the motor off with gas. I made up a gasket for the crankcase too. Luckily the 16 horse will mount up in the same holes that the original 11 horse used. The motor will just BARELY fit without modifying the hood.

I think it might be safe to say the murray has more balls than most of KCs tractors now.

I decided I needed a tow behind mower that I can cut tall grass with....so I cobbled this together this week....It's an old 42" Ford deck that I have laying around, took the front off a frame of an old MTD and a 10hp B&S. Took the roller off the deck and put some bigger wheels on to lift it up. It will cut about 6" off the ground or can be lowered to 4"........Here's a few pics

The original plan was to have a heliocoil installed in the old head since the threads were shot. Well, the guy I took the head to could not find the right size insert to go in there, so he gave me a different head that was in much better shape anyways. I acquired a replacement transaxle as the original had a blown reverse. I finally got that painted and got everything bolted up today.
Well as some of you may already know from the chatbox. The murray is going to be transformed into a gator like thing with tandem axles. If it goes well ill explore the possibility of putting tracks on the back and making it into a halftrack type deal. Going out now to weld on some angle iron as an extension of the frame. Pics to come......

I had the Moto-Mower I bought off ebay out today. Its the first time its been running in about a month, and of course it wouldn't start, but a little ether fixed that and it was up and running in no time. This tractor is in nice original shape and doesn't need much other than some TLC. One of the things I noticed wrong with it after I brought it home was one of the bolts was missing where the frame bolts to the transaxle. I had some extra bolts laying around but couldn't get the stock size to ...

I have inherited a Sears 10XL that was once my grandfathers. It needs a lot of work, but I would like to restore it. Problem is Sears no longer caries parts and I do not know where to get parts. I need to replace the front clip/grill, and several other frame parts. Where can I get a rebuild kit/gaskets for the engine and carburetor Is there a way to make them I believe that the cutting deck is a Tecumseh and I have found ...

Last time I looked at these headlights I noticed they were a little white in the middle of the lens and unplugged...

Well, it cost me a new fuse but I figured out why they were unplugged.

My Case was built in 1978 therefore it came with plastic headlights, which at this point have bad (melted) lenses, bad wires, ...

Hi all,

Well for those who were in the chat room the other night I broke the news on what kind of tractor I was buying. Today I went and picked it up. It's a '66 Case 150. Overall, it runs pretty good, with an occasional puff of smoke from the Kohler K241.
