This Roper found it's way into my trailer this morning and my wallet got $100 lighter. .....No compression....I was hoping for a stuck valve or something, but no such luck. I took the head off and the piston, she no move. So at the very least the rod is broken. It's a 12 hp B&S. I wonder if the rod out of an 8 hp is the same?....Probably not, eh?

The thing does have a new battery and looks pretty good otherwise.

Didn't have a lot of time to put into tractor projects this summer, but did find time to barter or buy a few more.

The asphalt plant is shut down for the winter & look forward to spending some time in the shop now.

He has a torn rotator cup & the E lift should help him out some.

Also a pair of Wheel Horse D series....one I have to finish painting.

Parts Springfield revival

This past weekend on my way back from Evan's I met up with a guy that was selling some Springfield components to me cheap, I mean dirt cheap. He had a 4 speed transaxle, a front axle, a steering wheel, a dash tower, and a drive shaft for a Toro like the one Evan sold me earlier this year. So for $40 I bought all of those parts to revive my 1961 Springfield that I parted out due to being worn out. So far the story is good, cause all I am missing is a couple odds and ends, and the engine. However, ...

I purchased a Viking Garden Tractor at a sale. The tractor came with a plow, a harrow, disc for cultivating between rows, plus a straight shank cultivator. The serial number is on the unit. It last ran 7 years ago. With a little work it should run again. Is there a serial number list so I can see what year my tractor is. Anyone know where I can get an owners/operator's manual. Any information on the unit will be appreciated. This is my first venture into gardent tractors having collected ...

I decided to get my Case 150 out today. This tractor had 3 dealer decals on it, 2 of which were painted over, and one on the dash which, is partly torn off. Well I got curious today and wanted to see what the painted over decals looked like. There is one on the back of the seat, and one on the front just below the grill. The one on the back I was not able to get much paint off just using a puddy knife, but the one on the front the paint came off pretty good. They're not in perfect shape, which ...

The Caterpillar turns jockey tractor

In the past I have used the good old Caterpillar to move my heavily built homemade 6x10 trailer. Attempt one, easily spotted as a pass/fail method is still in place, along with the brand new, bolted together using leftover thick steel hitch LOL. The new hitch was fabbed last week and the top piece was added yesterday after the trial pull, which unlike the cheap aluminum bolt together angle iron, did not result in the trailer rolling away.

How about pics.

About a month or so ago I purchased this 1967 Gilson M-7 on ebay for $150 since it was somewhere along the way to go the Evan's place. The only before pics I have of the tractor are with it sitting next to Evan's Case 150, ain't that a nice pair of tractors. Too bad the Motomowers were winterized a few days prior to my visit.... wonder if there was a conspiracy involved.

Anyway, after yesterday's tractor show Dad pointed out that the tractor needed a belt guard, ok, he demanded ...

Alright guys,

I need an opinion, and or some information, preferably correct.

I bought an older Gilson than my yellow one a while back, a 1967 model M-7 Gilson to be exact. I got it home and I had to jump start it for the first time, it had been starting just fine most the weekend, just ask Evan. Well, as I went to jump it Dad asked me if the battery was hooked up backwards or was it supposed to be a positive ground... Well, studying it and I got no clue.... except wire colors and ...

Well I got the old 4 horse briggs out today. I mounted up a fuel tank, and washed the motor off with gas. I made up a gasket for the crankcase too. Luckily the 16 horse will mount up in the same holes that the original 11 horse used. The motor will just BARELY fit without modifying the hood.

I think it might be safe to say the murray has more balls than most of KCs tractors now.

The damage:

Planning on JB welding the hell out of that.
